📖 About Unicode Emoji Standards

The Unicode Consortium is an international organization that defines the emoji standards used in digital communication. Each new Unicode version adds new emoji characters, symbols, and signs, expanding the possibilities of digital expression. Emojis were first designed in 1999 by Shigetaka Kurita in Japan and became an international standard with Unicode 6.0 in 2010. Today, over 3,600 emojis are used daily by billions of people around the world.
